What’s Up People!?
August 25, 2008 | Leave a Comment
I get A LOT of e-mail every single day from people asking me questions about this and that - so it’s time for me to start answering those questions on my blog.
Why not answer them on my blog? This way I can help other people who might be reading that have the same question.
It might even help to cut down on the number of e-mails that I get - NOT!? lol
Seriously, I don’t mind the e-mails because it keeps me feeling loved. I just think it’s time to share some of these awesome questions that you all are asking me with the rest of the world.
Why not, ya know?
Don’t worry about your privacy because if you ask me a question I won’t tell anybody who asked. I’ll just stick to the basics of the question and then share my answer.
What a neat way to help other people by sharing the situation, ya know?
Got any special plans for the upcoming 3-day weekend?
Ok, so what I’ll do is start posting the questions and scenarios that are sent to me tomorrow on my blog: Sexual Health Buzz
I’ll look forward to seeing you there!!
Oh and if you have a questions about herpes you can send those to me either on my Myspace page OR my Feedback page.

I Brake for Meltdowns
August 5, 2008 | Leave a Comment
We’ve all had those moments - or are going to have them. You know the ones, the throwing, kicking, fighting, screaming - yep, the tantrums and meltdowns that most certainly come with raising children. So, how do we handle them? We aren’t all born to be Super Nanny, LOL!!! Never fear! There is help and there is most certainly hope!

I’ve just had the pleasure of reading through I Brake for Meltdowns by Michelle Nicholasen and Barbara O’Neal. This book is full of great advice, ideas, and tips for dealing with the most unruly of behaviors. They address everything from the simple rudeness of not saying hello when greeting someone to bullies, the clingy child, aggressiveness, bedtime tantrums, poor table manners, biting, jealousy, anger, foul language, and so much more!
The book is written in such a way that you can read through it nonstop and absorb it all or you could just leave it on the nightstand and use it as a reference manual when you are at your wits end and just can’t figure out what to do next. I Brake for Meltdowns is light and easy to read; filled with easy to follow dialogue to help you in any situation. It will make you laugh and smile, and what’s most important is it will offer you some much needed help - think of it as your own personal Super Nanny just waiting to be used.

Video Exercises for Stroke Survivors to Regain Mobility
August 3, 2008 | 1 Comment
If you know anyone who is a stroke survivor or stroke caregiver, you may like to get him/her to view a series of exercises stroke survivors can do to regain mobility. The eight video links at this article, Motor Imagery Therapy, are authentic and real life video sessions taken by Bokjae of his wife.
Rock suffered a severe stroke about 2.5 years ago in 2005. It nearly killed her so it was somewhat a great relief to Bokjae when she managed to pull through with total paralysis. Naturally, Bokjae did all he could to get Rock back to her feet again. He resigned from a high earning, senior management position to be a full-time stroke caregiver. Bokjae’s love and patience coupled with Rock’s perseverance and determination were fundamentally important to her progress. Bokjae said the progress was painfully slow but they had faith that God is merciful. Now, we are all happy that Rock is able to walk again.
The video links are the routine Motor Imaginery and Bilateral Isokinematic Therapy exercises that Rock has to go through every single day since 2005. To be exact, 3 times a day with each exercise lasting an hour at least. These videos were recorded at the University Hospital Stroke Rehab Clinic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the kind permission of the Chief Physiotherapist, Madam Noorieni.
We hope the video links will be helpful to other stroke caregivers.

Healthy Fats to Combat Eczema?
August 1, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Those who suffer from eczema will understand the excruciating itch that accompanies the red, angry rashes. Most resort to oral steroids and steroid cream. If you are using steroids, do use sparingly. Why? Because even dermatologists will not encourage long term usage of steroids. One reason is steroids will “eat” your skin. So, some people, like me, look for alternative and holistic treatments or use natural herbs for relief. Recently, to my astonishment, I learned that having fats, healthy fats of course, can help to combat this skin disorder. Not only that, these healthy fats can be easily found in our kitchen - Avocados, Flax Oil, Hemp Oil, Coconut Oil and Extra Virgin oil. Surprise, surprise.
If you like to find out a little more on these 5 healthy fats, click on the link to read a short article at NutureYourOwn. You may also want to follow the links to 2 eczema experts who claimed they have found a cure being eczema sufferers themselves.

My Daughter will soon be ONE LESS
July 31, 2008 | Leave a Comment
You guessed it! She’s started the 3 part vaccination process with Gardasil the Human Papillomavirus Quadrivalent (Types 6, 11, 16, and 18) Vaccine, Recombinant. If you’re not sure what that is, visit www.GARDASIL.com and read up on it.
It was just a matter of time before we got the vaccine going for my teen. When it first came out I knew it would take a little while for the insurance companies to get their act together, so we waited. When we went in a couple of weeks ago and had the opportunity to ask about this our family doctor insisted it was a smart choice.
Gardasil does NOT prevent against all 100+ types of HPV but it does prevent two types that can cause cervical cancer and two more types that can cause genital warts. Hello People, CERVICAL CANCER can be prevented? That’s the biggest reason to get your girls vaccinated when it comes time.
I asked my doctor when the four and two year old could get vaccinated and she told me that eventually they will be setting it up to encourage parents to have it done before Junior High School years.
So once you get the first shot you go back two months after the 1st appointment for another shot. Once you get the second shot you back back six months after the 1st appointment. (In other words, every two months until the three part series is completed.)
That’s definitely ONE LESS thing that we will have to worry about. Science and medical breakthrough never cease to amaze me.

Teen Heartbreak all over the World
July 28, 2008 | Leave a Comment
This is one example of Teen Love gone wrong. Young girl falls in love with young guy. Young guy wants to have sex with young girl so he says and does everything right to get in her pants. Young girl falls for young guy’s advances even though it’s not sitting right deep down inside. And the story goes on…
The story goes on like this one all over the world because I’m pretty certain this isn’t the only scenario where two teens have sex and one winds up with a sexually transmitted disease for the first time. I’m pretty sure you could probably switch the scenario around and make the girl the aggressor and the young guy in a bad spot as well.
Hopefully teens are thinking about what can happen as a result of having sex. Sex is a serious thing and not something to be flippant about. Sometimes even waiting for the right person to come along can come with its consequences if you aren’t ready and able to talk about STDS and make a date to go and get tested BEFORE you have sex.
So here we have a story written by an anonymous teenager that wants others to know that she understands where you are coming from and what you might be going through.
I would also like to mention that it was suggested that men never seem to be at any of the Planned Parenthood locations. I would suspect that it might have something to do with the fact that Planned Parenthood doesn’t really reach out to help young men unless young men have no place else to turn. Am I happy about that? No, because it is what it is. I have heard Planned Parenthood will see men but then again.. it caters only to women. You’ll have to contact Planned Parenthood to find out why that is.?
If you have a story you’d like to share feel free to contact me and let me know how little or how much information you’d like to include. I will be happy to put a page together and share it as I’ve done with this one.
True Inspirational Stories are meant to be shared, are they not?

My Food Journal on Checkup Today
July 20, 2008 | 2 Comments
I’ve been hearing lately that when you keep a journal of everything that you put into your mouth that you actually stand a better chance of losing weight that somebody who doesn’t have a food journal. I read that in a magazine that I get here at the house and my husband send me a link to a study that backs it up. (I don’t have that link any more OR know the name of the magazine)
I can tell you that I’m in a slump when it comes to working out. I’m a tad bit depressed that I’ve put back on the seven pounds that I was at when I joined our fitness center this time last year. It’s as if I’m exercising in order to maintain my weight. On top of that I hurt my foot a week ago and I have Hashimoto’s Disease on top of that. (For those that don’t know this, Hashimoto’s is an Autoimmune Disease also known as Hypothyroidism)
I’ve been feeling loads of BLAH this week, depressed, and lifeless. I don’t know what else to do really but to blog about it so what better place to do that than right here on Checkup Today. I will have to start from the beginning with my food journal, measurements and start jotting down what I put in my mouth.

Openings on Checkup Today
July 20, 2008 | Leave a Comment
I’ve been doing some much needed summer cleaning on my blogs today and noticed that many Checkup Today peeps either don’t link back to Checkup Today like they used to Or they don’t have the much needed 125×125 Checkup Today banner on their blog.
If you are a Checkup Today blog member it’s imperative that you have the banner with a link back to Checkup Today. It would be nice if you could put up a text link too but I will leave that up to you.
If you are going through some online moving of your blog and haven’t had a chance to fully update your blog, I do understand. Just shoot me a quick note and let me know when your move is complete to include the Checkup Today banner and I’ll be sure and get you listed back in your category.
This summer has been busy for me BUT I’m still alive and kicking. Normally I would go through my blogs once a month but I think the last time I checked them was back in the spring time.
Stop by, leave a comment and let me know you’re alive! Don’t forget that we all meet in the Yahoo Group Blog Talk Gossip in order to exchange idea, etc. Maybe I’ll go through and add a link to that group so other bloggers can find it from all of my blogs.

Hair Analysis Tells A Lot About Our Health!
July 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Many don’t know that a simple hair analysis can tell a lot about a person’s health. I didn’t initially but now I’m wiser because of Dr Bob Koh’s sharings at NurtureYourOwn blog.
Dr Koh said “An indicator of +21 is a very healthy indicator for the organ or system, and a normal healthy individual must have at least a +17. A number +16 and below is an unhealthy state.”. He published 3 hair analysis report to show how his Stage 3 cancer patient had progressed from March to May 2008. 2 weeks of non invasive, alternative treatment had resulted the cancerous cells to turn benign. After that, the patient’s general health also showed tremendous progress. I supposed the reports are proofs that many would want to see.
You can click on this link to go through the very detailed report at your convenience: Hair Analysis Results Prove Cancerous Cells Turn Benign in 2 weeks!
